Commissioned by the Theatre Royal Plymouth as part of their PlayLAB Scheme. Plates is a co-authored piece of new writing exploring functioning addiction and the lifestyle
of hospitality workers.
We use made up characters to tell true life stories the writer and director have collected from working in pubs. We’ve created an ensemble of
characters lead by Pear; a twenty something woman who drinks too much, smokes too
much, takes too much, and has a serious problem with the truth.
She’s probably not the best choice of narrator.
We’re sure she can still offer you a good time, and for at least twenty minutes you can forget about your own problems. If only there was a substance that could let us all forget about our own problems…
